Sherlock Holmes meets "The" Woman on Monday May 21st at the Kirkland Performance Center
In all of the stories written by Sherlock Holmes' creator Sir Arthur Conan Doyle only one has the great detective meeting an adversary who earns his complete respect and a rude form of admiration. The fact that this foe is a woman makes their meeting all the more poignant, since Holmes has a limit view when it comes to the opposite sex. The tale is called "A Scandal in Bohemia" and it is the first and one of the most famous of all the short stories in the cannon. Here we as the reader meet Irene Adler whom forever after their only encounter Holmes was always to refer to as "The" woman.
On Monday night May 21st at the Kirkland Performance Center John Patrick Lowrie as Sherlock Holmes will once again come face to face with this amazing female as Imagination Theatre records in front of a live audience this latest adaptation in "The Classic Adventures of Sherlock Holmes" series." Writer M. J. Elliott has done masterful job of capturing the flavor and character of Doyle's writings as he always does in these new versions of the canon. However, without the right actors in the right parts it could still make for a long evening, we have the actors. In the role of Irene Adler we have been able to cast the award winning actress the wonderful Ellen McLain better known as the voice of Glados from the popular video came "Portals." Dennis Bateman, our own "Man of a Thousand" will be playing the King of Bohemia. By itself this alone would make for a great evening, but there's more.
Before Holmes and Watson take you back to Victorian England we'll take you to 1950's Seattle and a brand new Harry Nile adventure written by Nile creator Jim French. Larry Albert, Harry and Mary Anne Doward as Murphy will take you step by step through their investigation of "The Case of the Bronze Horse." It's a tale of thunder and lightning, flooded rooms and an impossible robbery. What a way to start the week!
For tickets just call the KPC box office at 425 893 9900 or go online to www.kpcenter.org. If you're willing to take a gamble tickets can also be purchased at the door. That's Monday May 21st at the Kirkland Performance Center 350 Kirkland Ave. Kirkland WA. We'll see ya there!
